Departmental Analytics -- a "pro-local" approach ?
Curt Monash has posted about Departmental Analytics - best practices. He is of the view that "corporate standards" should NOT be an obstacle to departments running their own Analytics implementations.
But when it comes down to it, he's presupposing the department has very sophisticated users. Combine the opposite of that with everyone wanting up to the minute data from the OLTP, you might come up with the actual average (mode) department, rather than the subset of nosql reality he is looking at.
